Last month, Indonesia Tatler proudly launched its Generation T 2018 list to highlight the achievements of 50 young leaders who are transforming the country. Anastasia Wibowo writes

he much-anticipated Generation T (Gen.t) 2018 launch party officially kicked off on August 10 at Immigrant Dining Room in Plaza Indonesia in Jakarta. Despite heavy rain, our Indonesia Tatler friends, “Tribe” members and Gen.t awardees came out in full force to celebrate the unveiling of the second annual list of the 50 game-changers who are defining Indonesia’s future with their achievements and contributions. The night drew a slew of the city’s prominent figures and other luminaries from all walks of life, all of whom came dressed to the nines.
Sophisticated socialites, charming celebrities, smart entrepreneurs, stylish fashionistas, and ingenious influencers were all spotted at the entrance of Immigrant. Upon their arrival, guests had the chance to strike a pose at our Gen.t wall of fame, with photographer Sweetescape ready to capture them.
We also set up a special spot with LOL Photobooth that worked like the Boomerang feature on Instagram—guests could instantly print and download their photos and post them on their social media. And when guests were done taking pictures, our team greeted them personally to guide them towards event registration. The online registration process allowed guests to download our Gen.t 2018 e-book directly onto their mobile devices.
The editor of Generation T Asia, Lee Williamson, opened the event with a welcoming speech. We were also lucky enough to have our Gen.t 2017 alumnus, the CEO of Bukalapak, Achmad Zaky, to share an insightful talk with the attendees, with the topic of “The Unicorn Story: A Journey to Business Growth”. At only 31, Achmad founded Bukalapak, one of Indonesia’s biggest unicorn start-ups. With his encouraging words and positive vibes, the inspiring entrepreneur gave the audience a boost of motivation.
It was also our generous partners who made the Gen.t 2018 launch party possible: Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Emerald, Omega, Plaza Indonesia, and Brava Radio as our official radio partner. BNI Emerald played a huge role in the launch of Gen.t 2018. BNI Emerald is a private banking service for individual customers who have a minimum placement with a minimum income. After a brief speech by the deputy general manager of the Global Wealth Management Division, Alwas Kurniadi Yarman, BNI Emerald handed out young generation awards to four chosen awardees: Arsyah Rasyid, Riki Kono Basmeleh, Felicia Hutapea, and Patrick Owen.
Omega, the Swiss luxury watchmaker, also played a notable part in the Gen.t 2018 launch party—it generously handed out tokens of appreciation to five chosen recipients: Revano Satria, Steven Kim, Vanessa Ong, Andrian Ishak, and Natasha Vinski. But of course, the highlight of the night was when
we started handing out the awards to our Gen.t 2018 stars according to their categories. Ready to give well-deserved onstage recognition to our 50 top honourees were the 2018 Tatler Tribe, including pianist Ananda Sukarlan, architect Cosmas Gozali, designer Rinaldy A. Yunardi, entrepreneur Shinta Kamdani, and Accenture’s Neneng Goenadi.
Indonesia Tatler has also established a CSR programme with Pansophia Nusantara Foundation, a non-profit organisation that focuses on education, in which each awardee was paired with one child on the basis of their personalities. With this programme, the recipient can encourage the children to achieve their dreams.
The Gen.t 2018 party was a tremendous and star-studded success thanks to the hard work and contributions from our team and partners. With all the glitz and glam, it was definitely a night to remember—esteemed guests were seen mingling and networking while savouring delicious food and exquisite beverages served by Immigrant. We sincerely hope that Gen.t will continue to be a platform to connect and inspire generation after generation through enriching content and insightful interviews.
