Malt Mastery

The Macallan No. 6 is yet another example of why The Macallan 1824 Masters Series is truly one of the finest collections of single-malt whisky

-

TSeries is a collection created to showcase the magnificent range of natural colours that The Macallan’s whiskies come in. Each colour becomes increasingly darker and more complex as one goes through the range. Bob Dalgarno, The Macallan’s Master Whisky Maker, has expertly crafted the whiskies to showcase the signature style of The Macallan and to honour the beautiful spectrum of natural colours unique to this exceptional single malt. Today, we look at The Macallan No. 6 and what it brings to the collection.

The Macallan No. 6 brings together the art of The Macallan Master Whisky Maker and the exquisite craftsmanship of Lalique, resulting in a masterpiece of timeless elegance. Exclusively designed and crafted for The Macallan, the flawless crystal decanter pays homage to the single malt’s heritage and foundation stones. The use of facets represents the Six Pillars, a set of guiding principles, makes up the backdrop of The Macallan’s unique spirit.

The iconic triangle of The Macallan is also a key element of the decanter’s creation. It was the unsurpassed creativity of Marc Larmiaux, Lalique’s head designer, and the mastery of its master craftsmen that brought the six-faceted decanter to life. Within the decanter is a complex single malt made using only the firstfill European sherry oak casks from a single Jerez cooperage. The crystal complements the rich dark walnut colour of a classic Macallan, making it all the more eye-catching.

The aroma of The Macallan No. 6 is made up of rich notes of raisin, sultanas, dates, and figs. Following that are notes of dry ginger and soft cinnamon, rounded off by dark chocolate. With a silky smooth, long, and full finish, The Macallan No. 6 is a celebration of richness, spice, and dried fruit with a layer of heady orange groves.
