The TAG Heuer Sports Hub Exhibition brings to Jakarta avant-garde timepieces along with plenty of sports-related activities

-

For two weeks in august, Senayan City mall was filled with an energy like never before. Organised by Time International, Senayan City was home to the TAG Heuer Sports Hub Exhibition. With the brand’s illustrious history of supporting world-class athletes and timing international sporting events, the exhibition was bound to be electrifying. Indonesia Tatler had the honour of attending the exhibition’s opening day—athletes and celebrities gathered to join in the merriment and raise funds for Yayasan Olahraga Anak Nusantara (YOAN) Foundation, a non-profit organisation with a focus on helping underprivileged children achieve their sporting dreams. Naturally, the fundraising event was going to be special, too.

Taking part in the fundraising event were Indonesian football legend Bambang Pamungkas, musician and triathlete Fajar Arifan, actor and sportscaster Ibnu Jamil, and professional bodybuilding champion Heintje Pojoh. The participants would race on electric bicycles connected to a virtual simulator. The further the participants travelled within the time given, the more funds would be raised for charity. Led by

Helen Tan, cycling instructor from Cycling LAB/SOULBOX Jakarta, and cheered on by emcee Daniel Mananta, it was the most intense 10 minutes of the night.

Living by TAG Heuer’s motto of “Don’t Crack Under Pressure”, the five cyclists gave it their all from start to finish. With a helping hand from Time International, a total of Rp200 million was raised for the YOAN Foundation.

In addition to the electric bicycles, visitors were able to take part in a slew of other sportsrelated activities. A gaming corner featuring the racing simulator Gran Turismo— complete with racing seats, pedals, and steering wheels—brought visitors the thrill of highperformance motorsports racing. Local actors Richard Kyle and Sigi Wimala took part in a friendly race as onlookers cheered them on.

Meanwhile, a penalty shootout space gave visitors a chance to test their footballing accuracy—an activity that came with a lot more pressure when looked on by Bambang Pamungkas. Reminding themselves of TAG Heuer’s motto, the athletes and celebrities were more than ready to go up against Bambang. On a wall next to the penalty shootout area hung several jerseys belonging to Manchester United footballers. Photo opportunities abounded as visitors got to be up close with the official jerseys of their favourite players.

On display next to the cycling area was one of the most striking automobiles of our time: the Aston Martin DB11 V8. The TAG Heuer and Aston Martin partnership is set to be a glorious one for fans both of motorsports and luxury horology. TAG Heuer will be the official timekeeper for the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Formula One Team, while Aston Martin designs will have a large influence on exclusive timepieces.

With the varied amount of activities available, visitors had endless amounts of fun while being inspired to excel further—just as TAG Heuer has in the worlds of both sports and horology. ”
