Cathay receives first A350

CATHAY PACIFIC HAS TAKEN DELIVERY of its first A350-900 – one of 22 on order for 2016 and 2017.

The A350-900 seats 280 passengers – 38 in business class (1-2-1), 28 in premium economy (2-4-2) and 214 in economy (3-3-3). The new business and premium economy products have been designed by Studio FA Porsche. The sculpted seat shell of business class has been kept, with the fully-flat bed remaining 75 inches long. Premium economy pitch has increased to 40 inches, and reclines nine inches. The first wifi-equipped Cathay aircraft, it is also paperless, with more than 30 digital magazines loaded on the in-flight entertainm­ent system. The seats are likely to be retrofitte­d to the B777-300.

Initially being used mainly on regional flights, the A350 will operate Cathay’s new Hong Kong-Gatwick service, which launches on September 2. It will be placed on the Dusseldorf route the same month. cathaypaci­fic.com
