Iberostar makes US debut

SPANISH GROUP Iberostar has opened its first US property. Previously run by Kimpton Hotels, Iberostar 70 Park Avenue (pictured) is in New York’s Midtown, by East 38th Street.

It has 250 rooms and suites with Frette linens and yoga mats, a coffee shop, a cocktail lounge and a gym.

A second US hotel will follow in Miami in December. The 96-room Iberostar Berkeley will open in a renovated 1940s art deco building in the South Beach district.
