STARWOOD has opened the Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City on Sheikh Zayed Road. With 1,004 rooms, including 142 suites, it is the largest Westin in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The group has also launched a 281room Aloft property in Riyadh. INTERCONTI­NENTAL HOTELS GROUP is expanding across Eastern Europe with 46 properties in the pipeline over the next three to five years, and four due to open in the next few months. Last month saw the opening of Hotel Indigo Krakow Old Town, while this month a Holiday Inn will open in Plovdiv, Bulgaria’s second-largest city. LONDON’S XENIA HOTEL has joined Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The 99-room property is on Cromwell Road in South Kensington and is home to Evoluzione restaurant, led by Michelin-star chef Andrea Angeletti. ACCORHOTEL­S has opened a 395-room heritage-inspired hotel in Singapore. The newly built Mercure Singapore Bugis is located in the arts and cultural district of Bugis, close to a number of shopping destinatio­ns and Bugis MRT station. EVEN HOTELS, the “wellness-minded” brand from Interconti­nental Hotels Group, has opened a second New York property. The 202-room Even Hotels Brooklyn has a two-floor athletics studio, while rooms feature training zones with foam rollers, yoga mats, exercise balls and a mounted fitness wall with resistance bands. PARK HOTEL GROUP has announced its first property in South Korea. The 150-room Park Hotel Yeongdeung­po Seoul is due to open early next year. Facilities will include an all-day restaurant, a deli, a rooftop restaurant and bar, and a gym. HILTON WORLDWIDE is to open two Kuwait hotels – one a Conrad property and the other a Hilton Garden Inn. They are scheduled to open in early 2019 in the expanded Avenues Mall in Kuwait City. MOVENPICK HOTELS AND RESORTS has announced plans for its second property close to Stuttgart airport. The 262-room new-build will be 150 metres from the existing Movenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport and Messe, and will have a 150-seat restaurant. It’s due to open in 2019.
