FIVE UNIQUE VENUES

-

1 GARDENS BY THE BAY

Set across 101 hectares of verdant reclaimed land, this futuristic public garden (see our green spaces feature on page 36) has five venues for hire, from the 1,200 sqm Flower Field Hall, favoured for gala dinners and product launches, to Silver Leaf – 600 sqm of outdoor space, dwarfed by a grove of 50-metre-tall vertical gardens. gardensbythebay.com/sg

2 CHIJMES HALL

This 19th-century styled Gothic chapel, a former convent, makes a striking setting for banquets and shows, seating 300 guests. It can also cater to more high-tech events, being equipped with wifi, an audiovisual screen and a stage. chijmes.com.sg

3 THE ARTS HOUSE

Built in 1826, the Arts House was the country’s former parliament until 1999, when it moved to a larger, more modern building. The parliamentary chamber retains furniture shipped from London in the 1950s, while the Film Gallery once served as a dungeon. Nine venues hold between 75 and 200 delegates. theartshouse.sg

4 ONE˚15 MARINA CLUB

Located in the heart of Sentosa Cove, the yacht club is ideal for sunset cocktails on the marina’s floating pontoon. Boats can be hired for a minimum of 18 guests, while on-land venues include the Constellation ballroom, for 500 people, and the Nova Room, which offers 180-degree views of the marina and holds 40. one15marina.com

5 THE CAVENAGH BRIDGE

Built in 1869, this is one of the city’s oldest bridges and can be booked in its entirety for events. It was the last structure to be completed by Indian convicts brought to the Straits Settlements (Penang, Malacca and Singapore) under British rule and still serves as a footbridge. It has been used for banquets and fashion shows, for up to 150 standing. sla.gov.sg
