Dream journey
On board the new Qantas B787-9 Dreamliner, even travelling Economy is a luxury. Fly it non-stop to Australia from next year
When it comes to bragging rights, flying non-stop from London to Australia puts you ahead of the game; and from March next year, you can do just that.
Qantas has flown the Kangaroo Route since 1947 and a trip that once took four days and nine stops will take just 17 hours on the game-changing B787-9 Dreamliner. It will be the world’s longest Dreamliner flight, but a combination of Boeing’s technology, Qantas design and onboard service will minimise jet lag and help time slip by.
Revolutionary use of composite materials means the cabin is pressurised to a lower altitude equivalent, providing more oxygen, greater humidity and less jet lag. Australia’s newest Flying Kangaroo also has windows that are 65 percent bigger than on other aircraft, making for unforgettable views.
Then there are the Qantas touches, beginning with the new Qantas Dreamliner Economy seat, which has features that other airlines reserve for Premium Economy. The 166-seat cabin is in a 3-3-3 layout and seats have a generous 32-inch pitch, offering more space than conventional seats.
But that’s not all – the slimline seat has additional room for the knees and there is an updated version of the Qantas footnet designed to cradle the legs during sleep. Plus there are more storage areas and a seatback mood light designed to minimise disturbance for other passengers. Add in the six-inch recline and it’s a recipe for some good rest.
The Qantas Dreamliner Economy seat will also keep you entertained. There’s a personal device holder with USB ports, and a HD touchscreen that is 5 percent larger than on other Qantas aircraft. At your fingertips are more than 1,500 entertainment options to while away the hours.
The inflight service is also being refreshed with award-winning Neil Perryinspired food and wine served at the most optimal points during your journey.
The benefits continue once you land at Perth, where Qantas offers convenient connections to more than ten destinations throughout Australia.
Remember, you can earn Qantas Points when you travel with Qantas and over 50 partner airlines and their affiliates, including Emirates, and British Airways and other oneworld airlines. Flying to more than 1,200 destinations worldwide means you can earn points almost anywhere you go.*
