BA/QATAR AIRWAYS COMPARISON
POST never economy DATE Sept 6, 14:13
I was looking at a quick Heathrow to Sydney trip in November. For the same dates, Qatar Airways is £9,300 and BA £4,900. Are people really paying this kind of premium or is this just a function of the dates I chose? A carrier would really have to be special for me to pay that kind of upgrade…

These seem like list prices with full flexibility. I don’t think anyone would pay these prices. Check with your agent or a site such as skyscanner.com for the real prices.

That £9,300 price seems very strange. Even if you were unlucky enough to pick dates when only the top fully-flexible J fare was available both ways, it would still only be about £8,000. You should be able to find a fare around the £4,000 mark, or less if you’re prepared to dig. Alternatively, BA is offering its one-way upgrade to First on semi-flexible fares, so business one-way and First the other is around £6,000.
