Part of the Madinat Jumeirah, the hotel opened its doors in December 2016. This marked the completion of the Madinat development, which opened in 2004, and also comprises two boutique hotels and 29 summer houses.

FACILITIES

With 430 rooms and suites, this is the largest hotel within the Madinat Jumeirah. The property’s design is billed as “modern Arabic luxury”, with bold evidence of this in the gold-embellished marble floors and a huge painted canvas of galloping horses. It’s tasteful, and staff are in abundance – the service I received at check-in and throughout my stay was outstanding.

Set across seven floors, there are 11 room categories including six types of suite, ranging from 51 sqm Resort Deluxe rooms to the 500 sqm Royal suite. All are decorated in an earthy palette with walnut fittings and textiles in grey and desert shades. Each has a desk, a 32-inch (or bigger) LG television, coffee- and teamaking facilities, and a large open-plan bathroom with a mosaic-tiled rainshower and bath.

The Al Naseem has seven places to eat and drink. The Palmery is the all-day dining restaurant where breakfast is served; Kalsa is the pool bar, while next door you’ll find Rockfish, a smart Mediterranean restaurant. Sugarmash is the adults-only pool bar. Open to villa and suite guests, the Summersalt Beach Club also has its own restaurant. There are three pools – one for adults-only. Guests can use the Talise gym and spa at the Jumeirah Mina A’Salam, also within the Madinat. A private beach extends the length of the complex.

VERDICT

A gorgeous property with thoughtfully designed rooms, excellent facilities and some of the best hotel service I’ve experienced. Marisa Cannon
