PRINCIPALITY STADIUM

The Principality Stadium tour is a Cardiff must. Rugby experts guide you through the awe-inspiring structure, including along the players’ tunnel and onto the pitch. The venue also hosts mega-gigs – Ed Sheeran plays on 21 June. Tickets for high-profile rugby games such as the Six Nations can be like gold dust, but for other internationals, such as “friendlies”, nabbing one is often easy. principalitystadium.wales

HOTEL INDIGO CARDIFF

Opening late in 2017, this eagerly awaited boutique hotel is situated in the heart of Cardiff’s shopping district. Its rooms are themed around the vibrant culture of Wales and its capital and all have free wifi and rainfall showers. For many, though, the rooftop Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill will be a major draw, not least for its fabulous views across the city and beyond. ihg.com

Located in the city’s rapidly gentrifying Canton district, this multi-award-winning restaurant gives cuisine from across the Indian subcontinent a “nouvelle” twist. Try chef Anand George’s signature main course, tiffin sea bass. General manager Raman Bijalwan joined from another Cardiff modernIndian legend, Mint and Mustard, also worth checking out. George runs a cookery school too. purplepoppadom.com

Thrill-seekers will relish a visit to Cardiff International White Water, an Olympicstandard indoor white-water rafting and indoor-wave riding centre, which also runs off-site activities such as gorge walking in the scenic Welsh countryside.
