Walsh to stay on amid crisis
INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES GROUP chief executive Willie Walsh is to delay his planned retirement, as the company steers its way through the coronavirus pandemic. The group, which comprises British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia, Level and Vueling, has outlined huge capacity and cost cuts for the coming months as the global aviation industry takes a hammering. Staff jobs are also at risk, and BA chief executive Alex Cruz has warned that the crisis will prove to be more disruptive than both SARS and 9/11.
