The latest superyachts on the water
HEESEN PROJECT MAIA
It would take Usain Bolt roughly 4.79 seconds to dash the length of Maia. At exactly half the length of a 100-metre running track, the vessel has been expertly crafted by Heesen’s in-house team, with a bulbous bow and a near perfect hull form to optimise its glide through the water. With a top speed of 15 knots, the boat has a range 3,800Nm when cruising comfortably at 12 knots. Designer Clifford Denn has created a flowing, simple yet technically complex exterior, setting Maia apart, including original design elements that may tickle motoring enthusiasts. That’s if they recognise how Project Maia’s lines are inspired to reflect both contemporary and classic car design. The fashion plate grilles on the main deck aft are another design detail that presents a more contemporaneous appeal. The interiors are the work of Reymond Langton Design and are both classic and homely, ensuring a comfortable and elegant private yacht aesthetic. Having just entered the outfitting period at Heesen shipyard in Oss, Netherlands, Maia will be available for delivery in 2018, following intensive North Sea trials Length: 49.9 metres Beam: 9 metres Draft: 2.75 metres Max speed: 15 knots Range at 12 knots: 3,800 nautical miles Guests: 10 Cabins: Owner’s stateroom, 3 double suites & 1 twin suite
