ZANZIBAR GETS A ZINGER

MARRIOTT IS HELPING TO MAKE ZANZIBAR A LUXURY COMPETITOR in the Indian Ocean, sparring with the likes of the Maldives and Mauritius, with the announcement of The Ritz- Carlton, Zanzibar. Although it’s not slated to open until 2021, it should be worth the wait with accommodation comprised entirely of suites and villas – some of which will be overwater – four restaurants and bars, a spa, kids’ club and more spread across a pristine swathe of coastline. It will be part of the vast Amber Resort complex in the island’s north- east, which will vaunt an upmarket experience through a marina, Ernie Els-designed golf course, water park and equestrian centre.
