Porthole Cruise and Travel

ONE QUESTION I’M OFTEN ASKED IS: WHAT SHOULD MY next cruise be? My answer? A cruise that you’ve never done before.

While some travelers find their favorite ship or itinerary and sail it over and over, I am of the mindset that there’s a whole wide world of cruising out there — from the number of ship options to various types of cruise styles to an infinite number of destinations to explore — and we owe it to ourselves to try it all!

This issue touches on some perfect opportunities for those of you seeking that “what’s next?” cruise. Perhaps you’ve only sailed oceangoing ships and you’re ready for your first foray into river options. Check out our review of Crystal Cruises’ beautiful new Crystal Bach, which is now sailing Europe’s waterways in Crystal’s signature style.

And it’s no secret that so much of cruising takes place in the Caribbean, which is always a fan favorite, but maybe it’s time you seek out a new itinerary that calls on different ports than those you’ve already visited. Take inspiration from this issue’s “If You Build It, They Will Cruise” story, which highlights five unique ports that were developed just for you and offer all the amenities that visiting cruise passengers adore, from resort-style pools to popular shopping and dining outlets to onsite active adventures.

Looking for a once-in-a-lifetime cruise experience? One travel writer offers up two options: first aboard Lindblad Expeditions– National Geographic’s National Geographic Endeavour II, meeting the wonderful wildlife of the Galapagos, and then aboard Hurtigruten’s MS Midnatsol, traversing the stunning landscapes of Antarctica. Talk about a check off your bucket list!

As William Shakespeare penned, “All the world’s a stage.” Can you imagine only seeing one act?

THERE’S A WHOLE WIDE WORLD OF CRUISING OUT THERE AND WE OWE IT TO OURSELVES TO TRY IT ALL!
