Suite Land
An Icon of Hospitality
Lay your head in one of these luxury London hotels.
The Lanesborough London Hotel has welcomed discerning guests to the British capital for the better part of two centuries. Today, after a comprehensive refurbishment in 2015, it has reopened as a thoroughly modern five- star accommodation in a beautifully restored Georgian-era residence.
Overlooking Wellington Arch between Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace, the museum’s ideal location means a short walk to cultural landmarks such as The British Museum and The Royal Albert Hall, as well as London’s most exclusive shopping district.
Stately Residences
The 93 rooms and suites have all the classic style of England of old, but with the latest communications technologies and entertainment systems seamlessly woven into their design. Each room has an entrance foyer, a writing desk — and a tablet that controls everything from the stereo to the air temperature. Interior-space designs, following the 2015 refurbishment, follow the plans of Alberto Pinto, renowned photographer and interior architect. The décor is neither modern nor minimal, but lavish and unashamedly old fashioned.
A complimentary, 24-hour butler provides everything from laundry to recommendations. Families are welcome, and treated with the same stellar service. Family packages include a kids’ concierge and luxury picnics.
Elegant Dining
Culinary events include themed afternoon teas at the hotel’s Venetian dining room, Céleste; informal drinks in The Withdrawing Room; Cuban cigars and cognac in The Garden Room; and Dom Perignon and Baerii caviar in the Library Bar. In addition, dinner at Céleste is shaped by the hotel’s chef patron, triple-Michelin–starred French chef Eric Frechon, and his protégé, executive chef Florian Favario. The dishes have a French inspiration, but are prepared with wholesome British ingredients and served under a glass roof that lets in the sunshine during the day and the moonlight in the evening.
