Don’t Leave Singapore Without Trying …
A world-famous Singapore Sling. Head to the Long Bar at Raffles Singapore hotel, where a bartender created the iconic drink in 1915. A gin cocktail with pineapple juice, lime juice, Dom Benedictine, grenadine, cherry brandy, and Cointreau, Singapore Sling resembles a fruit juice drink, but packs a punch. It’s just lovely to sip at the end of a steamy Singaporean day of touring.
Chili crab. Despite the name, this dish isn’t particularly spicy. Mud crabs are stir-fried in a thick-ish tomato sauce vibrant with red chilies, ginger, garlic, and scallions. Beaten egg is stirred in toward the end.
Chicken rice, Singapore’s national dish. Chicken, either steamed or boiled, is served atop rice with cucumber slices. Dipping sauces, such as chili with garlic or pounded ginger, amp up the flavor.
