Grab a brew with a view at Amsterdam’s Brouwerij ‘t IJ pub and brewery.

THE SETTING Amsterdam’s Brouwerij ’t IJ is a pub and brewery that’s been producing quality beers since 1985. Located in a former municipal bathhouse, it’s next door to the tallest wooden windmill of the Netherlands, the 16th-century De Gooyer Windmill, the ultimate landmark. THE SCENE The majority of brews are available on tap in the pub, which is self-service only, so place your order at the bar and make yourself comfortable among friends. In summer, enjoy your brew outside on the terrace, and on days they aren’t brewing, you can sign up for a brewery tour to learn about its history and the role of water, malt, hops, and yeast within the brewing process. THE SIPS An extensive selection, including some organic options, features classic, alwaysavailable brews such as Natte, Zatte, Struis, and Columbus, as well as seasonals and limitededitions. A basic menu of beer snacks includes cheeses, meats, and other small bites.
