BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Argentina was an early adopter of LGBTQ rights, becoming the first Latin American country to legalize same-sex marriage in 2010. This Europeanstyled city has a more laidback, romantic air to it for gay couples, and there are many progressive neighborhoods to visit. A stroll through Palermo (including Soho and Hollywood) and upscale San Telmo is in order, as well as a visit to Eva Perón’s grave in Recoleta. Palermo’s tree-lined streets are eminently walkable and you’ll find endless shops and bars, along with a nice collection of museums and galleries. Tango Queer offers same-sex tango classes on Tuesdays (at the Buenos Aires Club, Perú 571) and Thursdays (at Escuela Argentina de Tango in Recoleta). Both the lead and following roles are taught, so students can decide which they’d prefer to adopt.
