‘Light Sight’ scoops up eight int’l awards

Iranian 3D animated piece ‘Light Sight’, directed by Moslem Tabatabaee, won eight internatio­nal awards in recent screenings in festivals in the UK, the US, India, and Bosnia-herzegovin­a. ‘Light Sight’ received Best Student ¿lm award at Sunrise 45 Film Festival in the US on August 18, Best Internatio­nal Short Animation at Pink City Internatio­nal Short Film Festival in India on September 1, and Best Animation award at the Third Full Bloom Film Festival in the US on September 14, Mehr News Agency reported. The 3D animation also scooped best animation awards at the 18th Moondance Internatio­nal Film Festival in the US on September 15, and the 10th Jahorina Film Festival in Bosnia-herzegovin­a on September 20.

The Special Jury award for creativity in short student films went to ‘Light Sight’ at the 9th DTLA Film Festival in the US on September 21.

The seven-minute animated piece also won Best Short Film award at the 5th Universal Film Festival in the US on September 28, and Best Student ¿lm award and nomination­s for Best Internatio­nal Short Film and Best Animation at the 9th Wimbledon Internatio­nal Short Film Festival in the UK on October 7.

The director of ‘Light Sight’ pointed out that the animation has one character and one setting; the character tries to escape from the room to get to the light he sees outside.
