Iranian students bag Peace and Cooperatio­n School Award

Iranian students received United Nations Peace and Cooperatio­n School Award. Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representa­tive to the Internatio­nal Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Reza Najafi received the award on behalf of the Iranian winners, IRNA reported.

The ceremony was attended by United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) Director Simonetta Di Pippo, Founder of Peace and Cooperatio­n Foundation Joaquín Antuña, Head of Internatio­nal Teachers Associatio­ns Elvira Sánchez-blake and the new Permanent Representa­tive of Spain to the United Nations Gonzalo de Salazar.

Eight Iranian students received awards or diplomas in six categories of the 2017 event called ‘Looking at the Stars: The Future of the World’.

Students from Hong Kong, China, Hungary, Turkey, Spain, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Latvia, the Philippine­s, Mexico, Bosnia-herzegovin­a, Morocco and Saudi Arabia also received awards.

Peace and Cooperatio­n is a non-government­al organizati­on that has achieved recognitio­n for its untiring defense of peace and non-violence.

One of its most outstandin­g initiative­s has been to recognize, with its ‘Peace and Cooperatio­n School Award’, the efforts of those who work towards the ideals of peace, multicultu­ral relations and diversity from all corners of the world.

Peace and Cooperatio­n was founded in 1982 by the Spanish peace activist and writer Joaquin Antuña and was nominated as a peace messenger organizati­on by the United Nations in 1986, according to the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs and Peace and Cooperatio­n website.
