Zarif in Baku to attend trilateral meeting
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is scheduled to meet with his Azerbaijani and Turkish counterparts in Baku to discuss economic ties and regional issues.
The meeting, which is slated for today, will be the ¿fth between the foreign ministers of the three countries, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Monday.
During the meeting, the participants will exchange views on a broad range of issues in various economic ¿elds including transit, transportation, energy, and customs, he said.
Qassemi added that issues of mutual interest in technical and business ¿elds as well as political cooperation particularly on regional issues like contributing to further peace and stability in the region are also high on the agenda.
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said Zarif and the Azerbaijani and Turkish Foreign Ministers, Elmar Mammadyarov and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, respectively, would hold a joint press conference after their meeting. The fourth session of trilateral meeting was held in the Iranian city of Ramsar in the northern Mazandaran Province in April 2016. At the end of the session, foreign ministers of Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkey issued a statement and signed two documents to strengthen trilateral cooperation and improve peace and security in the region.
