Alzheimer’s-related proteins increase with poor sleeping habits

-

Sleep is an essential part of any working adult life as it serves as a fuel to start the day.

A new study now reveals another reason why adults should strive to get a good night’s sleep as much as possible, healthaim. com reported.

If a person continues a habit of having bad sleep, protein levels associated with Alzheimer’s disease increase as well.

Medical News reported that recent study conducted on healthy middle-aged adults revealed that amyloid beta and tau are increased when people undergo poor sleeping habits.

Once these two protein increase a few levels, the chances of getting Alzheimer’s diseases in the future goes up as well.

Amyloid beta is increased after a night of poor sleep while tau is increased after a week of poor sleep.

But of course, having poor sleep for weeks and months without end will have a significant effect in Amyloid beta and tau levels.

The research comes from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo, Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA and in Radbout University Medical Center in the Netherlands.

According to author Yo-el Ju, it’s unlikely that a night or a week of poor sleep could have a big impact on the risk of developing Alzheimer’s.

She added that the protein levels; Amyloid beta and tau probably return to their normal state afterwards.

Still, it’s worth being cautious about. Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia and is commonly diagnosed in the elderly.

The rapid increase in cases of Alzheimer’s are pushing researchers into finding the roots of Alzheimer’s to prevent further cases.

A good night sleep should be observed as it has a couple of benefits.

Aside from possibly decreasing the chances of getting Alzheimer’s in the future, it also gives people the drive and energy for the next day.
