Assad: Victory over terrorism foiled plots against region
Syrian President Bashar al-assad on Sunday said that victory over terrorism in Syria and Iraq, along with Iran’s resilience in the nuclear issue, foiled plots devised for the region. Bashar al-assad made the comments in a meeting with the head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, Kamal Kharrazi, and his accompanying delegation in the Syrian capital, Damascus, SANA reported.
He also said Iran’s support for Syria in all fields, particularly in fighting terrorism, contributed to the successes achieved by the Syrian Arab Army against terrorism.
The Syrian president asserted that the “flagrant Turkish aggression” on the Syrian city of Afrin cannot be separated from the policy adopted by Ankara since the first day of the crisis in the Arab country, a policy which was based on supporting terrorism and terrorist organizations.
Kharrazi congratulated President Assad and the Syrian people for the victories achieved against terrorists, the most recent of them recapturing Abu aldohour airport from terrorists.
Kharrazi also held talks with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-moallem.
Both officials stressed the need to increase bilateral relations and coordination on all levels.
Iran is one of Syria’s main allies in the region and has supported the country in its campaign against terrorists during the past seven years.
