Passenger traffic via Iran airports registers slight rise
Over 419,000 domestic and international flights were conducted via Iranian airports in the 10 months from March 21, 2017 to January 20, 2018 indicating a growth of eight percent year-on-year.
More than 52.2 million passengers were transferred via Iranian airports during the 10-month period which is nine percent more than the figure for the same period in the preceding year, according to the latest data released by Iran Airports Company (IAC), reported Trend News Agency.
Also 509 million kilograms of cargo was transported via Iranian airports in the period, which is 11 percent more than the figure for the same eight months of the preceding year.
Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport ranked first among Iranian airports with 120,824 flights (14.743 million passengers), followed by Mashhad International Airport (63,943 flights and 9 million passengers), Imam Khomeini International Airport (50,003 flights and 7.7 million passengers) and Shiraz International Airport (29,172 flights and 3 million passengers).
Meanwhile, Imam Khomeini International Airport stood first among Iranian airports in terms of cargo transportation handling over 142.7 million kilograms of cargo during the eight-month period.
In subsequent positions were Mehrabad (101.5 million kilograms) and Mashhad (81.7 million kilograms) airports.
