antibiotic to adults with these four conditions, the study found.

Older health care providers were also more likely to prescribe antibiotics. Family medicine practices had the highest rate of antibiotic prescribing, while pediatric practices had the lowest rate.

The findings were published recently in the journal Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology.

Study author Dr. Lisa Davidson, medical director for the Antimicrobial Support Network at Carolinas Healthcare System, said, “By undertaking this research, we can help ensure that our local patients receive the most appropriate, safe care, and are not inappropriately prescribed antibiotics.” Iran’s Ministry of Health and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on equipping hospitals in Iran.

The MOU, which was signed in Tehran, is worth 1.537 billion Japanese yen, equal to approximately $14 million, mehrnews.com reported.

The MOU, which followed negotiations between Japanese prime minister and Iran’s president on healthcare cooperation, is to pave the way for the entry of modern Japanese technology in the Iranian market to meet the interests of both countries.

The agreement aims to strengthen Iran’s social infrastructures by providing medical equipment, including angiography imaging systems, to Imam Hossein Hospital and Arash Hospital in Tehran, as well as developing services for early diagnosis of cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

In September, JICA signed a deal with Tehran Air Quality Control Company on supplying equipment for measuring and analyzing the emission of pollutants in the Iranian capital.

An agreement between JICA and Thermal Power Plants Holding Company was also signed a few weeks ago based on which the Japanese side agreed to allocate $800 million for Shahid Mofatteh and Shahid Rajaei power plants.

Formed in 2003, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is chartered with assisting economic and social growth in developing countries, and the promotion of international cooperation.
