Chaos at airport after panicked passengers spot bizarre handwritten note taped to suitcase

-

Aussie police were called to an airport after panicked passengers noticed a bizarre note on the side of a suitcase. The black case was on the luggage carousel when people spotted the handwritten message and alerted security, according to Mirror.

The note, which was written below the passenger’s name, said: “Bomb to Brisbane.”

Police were called to the scene and cordoned off the part of Brisbane Airport in Queensland, Australia, before asking people to leave the area.

It is believed the owner of the bag, Venkata Lakshmi, 65, meant to write Bombay which is the old name of the Mumbai airport she was traveling from.

Her daughter Devi Jothiraj told Yahoo7 News: “She was pulled into a room and interviewed.

“They asked her to open the bag and asked her why it said bomb and she said — It’s for Bombay.”

Police examined the bag before ruling it wasn’t suspicious.

One of the passengers told Yahoo News she was shocked the bag made it that far through security.

“I didn’t know what to make of it to be honest, I thought it may have been a joke but when I saw the police officers come over then I realized it was a bit more serious.

“How it made it all the way is beyond me, you’ve got to be pretty thick to do that.”

A spokesman for the Australian Federal Police told News18: “The Australian Federal Police responded to reports of a suspicious item of baggage at Brisbane International Airport this morning.

“An area near a baggage carousel was cordoned off and the item was examined in accordance with routine protocols and was not deemed to be suspicious.”
