Iran’s foreign trade hit $200b last year: Minister
Iran’s foreign trade in the year to March 20 stood at $200 billion, said Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari adding that given the significant trade exchanges, Iran can be a good trade partner for Uzbekistan.
Speaking on Monday at 12th Joint Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Uzbekistan, held at the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, he said that relations between Iran and Uzbekistan have been good and fair relationship, Mehr News Agency reported.
Uzbekistan’s policies regarding its neighbors and other Central Asian countries are very much similar to those of Iran, he said, adding, “This important issue can help strengthen relations between Iran and Uzbekistan.”
He put the Iran’s oil revenues at $52 billion and noted that non-oil products valued at $47 billion were exported in the Iranian year to March 20.
The minister said that Iran has scored significant achievements in petrochemical industries which can benefit all its neighbors.
Establishing free trade agreement (FTA), he concluded, can facilitate trade and economic relations between Iran and Uzbekistan.
