UK, Netherlands next stops for Iranian antiques
British Museum and Netherlands History Museum will host an exhibition of Iran’s artifacts in June and late September respectively, said Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization’s (ICHHTO) director for museum affairs.
Speaking about Iran’s cultural exchanges with museums around the world, Mohammadreza Kargar, said Iran’s cultural officials plan further exchanges with world museums in the Iranian year that started on March 21, IRNA reported.
He added that exhibitions in the UK and the Netherlands are currently displaying artifacts from the pre-islamic, Islamic and contemporary periods.
Kargar said that the enthusiasm shown by the public for the ‘Louvre in Tehran’ exhibition made officials think more about cultural exchanges with other countries.
Another prestigious exhibition titled ‘Empire of Red Flowers, Masterpieces of 19th Century Iranian Art’, featuring Iranian artistic works from the Qajar Era, began on March 27 in Paris.
Last year, National Museum of Iran held several meetings with officials from other museums to promote cultural exchanges and hold joint exhibitions in a number of countries.
