Iran’s Hadadi grabs gold at USSD competitions
Iranian discus thrower and London 2012 Olympics silver medalist Ehsan Hadadi featured dazzling performances at the USSD competitions in the US, and snatched a gold medal.
The 33-year-old Iranian finished in the first spot and struck the yellow medal with his best throw of 68.85m in Chula Vista city, located just 12km from downtown San Diego, Press TV reported.
Hadadi recorded 59.40m in his first attempt, and threw 67.99m in the second.
“I am so delighted to have once again recorded a throw beyond 68m after six years. It was a great contest and I hope to extend my success in future competitions and the Diamond League,” he said.
“Currently, I am training under the tutelage of Mac Wilkins. Fortunately, I could get a satisfactory result through his training. I am now in an acceptable mental state,” Hadadi added.
The Iranian discus thrower is preparing for the 2018 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Diamond League.
