Iran, Tajikistan agree to boost ties
Iran and Tajikistan on Monday agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who arrived in Tajik capital Dushanbe to attend a ministerial meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), met with President Emomali Rahmon.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest and called for fostering cooperation in political, economic cultural domains as well as energy and technology.
Heading a high-ranking political delegation, Zarif is to participate in the 23rd Meeting of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers due to be held on April 17.
During his trip to Tajikistan, the top Iranian diplomat will also hold talks with senior Tajik officials about ways to boost relations between Tehran and Dushanbe in various sectors, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi.
The participants in the ministerial meeting will discuss the status of the implementation of the ECO projects and programs, the relationship of the ECO Secretariat with international organizations, the activities of the specialized agencies and affiliated bodies of ECO.
