Rouhani stresses expansion of ties in meetings with new envoys

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani held separate meetings with new foreign ambassador­s from Lebanon, Latvia, Estonia, Nepal and New Zealand while receiving their letters of credence on Tuesday. During his meetings with the new foreign envoys, president Rouhani stressed on the importance of improving relations.

Speaking in a meeting with the new Ambassador of Lebanon Hassan Abbas, Rouhani described the relations between Iran and Lebanon as friendly, saying that Tehran welcomes deepening relations with Beirut in all ¿elds, the president’s of¿cial website reported.

He said Iran will continue supporting the Lebanese government and nation to resist against terrorist groups and aggression by the Israeli regime.

In his meeting with new non-resident Ambassador of Latvia to Tehran Pēteris Kārlis Elferts, Rouhani stressed the importance of cooperatio­n between the private sectors of the two countries to take the best advantage of potentials and opportunit­ies for further developmen­t of ties.

The president also held a meeting with new ambassador of Estonia to Tehran, during which he referred to the close relations between Iran and Estonia, saying that the Islamic Republic is ready to deepen relations and cooperatio­n with Estonia in all ¿elds of mutual interest.

President Rouhani underlined that there is no obstacle on the path of promoting relations in various scienti¿c, cultural, economic and tourism ¿elds.

In his meeting with new Nepali Ambassador Sewa Lamsal, the Iranian president said that businesspe­ople and investors of the two countries can cooperate more closely with each other.

Rouhani added that developmen­t of security in the world is very important for Iran and both countries can have positive and constructi­ve cooperatio­n.

President Rouhani also met with the new Ambassador of New Zealand Hamish Macmaster.

Rouhani expressed appreciati­on for the positive stances taken by New Zealand on the Iran nuclear deal and said, “2015 was the year of success of politics and diplomacy over hostility and unfriendly relations among countries and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that constructi­ve interactio­n with the world and adoption of a win-win approach will be bene¿cial for the entire world.”
