IRNA host to 43rd OANA Executive Board Meeting
The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) is proudly hosting the 43rd Executive Board Meeting (EBM) of the Organization of Asia-pacific News Agencies (OANA) in Tehran on September 3, 2018.
IRNA has been a committed member agency of OANA. In addition to actively taking part in its meetings and projects, it hosted the 5th Executive Board Meeting in 1985, the 10th General Assembly in 1997, and the 28th Executive Board Meeting in 2006 as well as a workshop for technical staff of member news agencies in the 1990s.
During IRNA’S presidency, OANA expanded to West Asia, bringing in colleagues from Arab news agencies to join the alliance of Asian news agencies. It was also during its 1997-2000 presidency that OANA passed behind the outdated configuration of redistribution centers and stabilized its march forward in employing modern communications technology.
Thirty-three delegates from 20 news agencies have confirmed their participation in the Tehran EBM in 2018. To promote cooperation among member news agencies, IRNA also invited five special guests to the meeting. Participants were requested to provide us with biodata about the head of delegations as well as information on the respective news agencies. We hope the booklet will provide you with useful information about guests of the Tehran OANA EBM.
Please accept our gratitude for accepting IRNA’S invitation to the Tehran event and for supporting OANA’S projects.
Have a memorable and meaningful meeting and enjoy your stay in Iran.
IRNA is a founder and member of some other international and regional news coalitions such as Non-aligned News Agencies Pool (NANAP), Association of the Caspian Sea News Agencies (ACSNA), Economic Cooperation Organization News Agencies (ECONA), OPEC News Agency (OPECNA) and International Islamic News Agency (IINA).
The daylong meeting will be attended by heads and senior officials of 19 news agencies from Russia, Republic of Azerbaijan, China, Qatar, Turkey, Oman, Mongolia, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Japan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Bulgaria, and the Iranian Mehr News Agency.
