OANA President Aslanov: Secretariat setup a must
President of the Organization of Asia-pacific News Agencies Aslan Aslanov said the setup of a secretariat for the organization will be proposed in the OANA meeting in Tehran.
Aslanov, also the managing director of Azerbaijan's AZERTAC news agency, made the remarks in an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency ahead of the OANA meeting in Tehran.
He was convinced that the setup of the OANA secretariat would be helpful in influential management of the organization.
He expressed hope that important decisions will be taken about the organization’s future activities in the Tehran meeting.
"We have plans to make proposals like launching OANA high media school, and holding training courses and conferences aimed at promoting the organization’s activities during the Tehran meeting," Aslanov said.
Recalling that 44 news agencies from 35 countries are members in OANA, the official said that Islamic Republic News Agency is one of the most active members of the organization.
The OANA president boasted that the organization now provides one-third of the world news.
Aslanov touched on fake news in the world and said access to reliable news sources is needed more than ever and therefore the activities of OANA member news agencies are of special significance.
Underlining the need to make use of the most advanced technologies by the media, the OANA president said that he has made every effort during his two-year tenure in office to use technologies to develop the OANA website and publish news on social networks.
