Iran urges Pakistan to take prompt action against kidnappers of Iranian border guards

-

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri called on Pakistan to take prompt action against kidnappers of Iranian border guards.

The Iranian general made the remarks in a phone call with Commander of Pakistan Army Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday, IRNA reported.

Under the security agreements reached between the two neighbors to safeguard common borders, Tehran expects Islamabad to adopt necessary measures to release Iranian border guards who were kidnapped by terrorists based in Pakistan, Baqeri said.

He also underlined the importance of deployment of more Pakistani military forces on the common borders to maintain security and prevent terrorist acts.

On Monday night, Pakistani-based terrorist group Jaish ul-adl kidnapped 14 Iranian forces at a border post in Mirjaveh region in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan-baluchestan.

The Pakistani general expressed regret over the abduction of Iranian forces, and referred to the Pakistani Army’s measures to chase and capture the hostage takers.

He expressed hope that the security forces would soon arrest the kidnappers and free the Iranian abductees.
