Mumbai festival awards Iranian film ‘Reza’

Iran feature film ‘Reza’ was welcomed by members of the jury for the internatio­nal section of 2018 Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in India and received special mention at the event.

According to a media report, the 20th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival jury honored Alireza Motamedi’s latest movie for being poetic and having a critical outlook. The film was also applauded for its writer, actors and the director himself.

The film narrates the story of a man in love who needs to deal with separation from his beloved wife.

The main character of the film Reza must delve into all aspects of his personalit­y to find out why his better half and the woman he loves cannot tolerate living with him and divorces him.

The film was screened at the 36th Fajr Internatio­nal Film Festival and was well-received by the film critiques.

It was also screened at the 42nd São Paulo Internatio­nal Film Festival in Brazil.

National Award-winning filmmaker Rima Das took home the Golden Gateway award in the India Gold category for ‘Bulbul Can Sing’ at the festival’s 20th edition with Star. She clinched the top award at the fest for the second year in a row. Last year, Das’ ‘Village Rockstars’ won three awards at the Mumbai Film Festival.

In the Internatio­nal Competitio­n, the Golden Gateway award went to director Phuttiphon­g Aroonpheng’s ‘Manta Ray’, while filmmaker Marcello Martinessi’s ‘The Heiresses’ received the Silver Gateway award.

The latest edition of Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival began October 25 and ended on November 1.
