-

Two new direct flights are to be launched from Iran’s western city of Kermanshah to popular destinations in Iraq and Turkey with the expected high season of travels during Norouz (Iranian New Year) holidays.

Director General of Kermanshah’s Shahid Ashrafi Esfahani Airport (KSH) Mojtaba Bayati said on Sunday that during the Iranian New Year holidays (to start March 21), a flight will be inaugurated between Kermanshah and the Iraqi city of Najaf to facilitate trips between the two countries during the period, reported Fars News Agency.

Another flight will be launched between Kermanshah and Turkey, he added without naming the Turkish city.

Noting that the flights on the new route have been specifically scheduled for Norouz holidays, he said, the route will remain in operation if it is welcomed by the passengers.

Kermanshah Airport is currently offering flights to seven domestic destinations including Shiraz, Mashhad, Tehran, Kish Island, Qeshm, Asalouyeh and Bandar Abbas.

Earlier this month, Iranian and Omani officials marked the launching of direct flights between Iran’s Persian Gulf Island of Qeshm and Omani capital city of Muscat which will operate twice a week.

The opening ceremony was attended by Director General of Qeshm Free Trade Zone and Iran’s Ambassador to Oman Mohammadreza Nouri Shahroudi.

A number of Omani local officials were also present in the event.

The Iranian ambassador said the new flights will increase connections between the two countries and lead to expansion of ties.
