Yellow-orange urine could be a sign you’re getting too much B2 vitamin

-

Urine color can indicate a number of different health conditions, with the most common being dehydration. But one sign many people may not be aware of is that yellow-orange urine could be a sign you’re getting too much of a certain vitamin.

Healthy color urine is described as straw-colored to transparent-yellow urine. This is the normal urine color of a healthy, well-hydrated body. Dark yellow pee can signal dehydration and red (blood) in urine can be a sign of a kidney infection and in some cases cancer. Diet can also play a big part in the color of a person’s pee, express. co.uk wrote.

A prime example of this is in some people, eating lots of beetroot can turn urine pink or red.

The color of our pee can be our body’s way of warning us we’re consuming too much of something — and no matter the cause, this shouldn’t be ignored.

If a person has yelloworange colored pee this could be a sign of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) overdose, explained Dr. Andrew Thornber, chief medical officer at Now Patient, a health app for National Health Service (NHS) patients, providing free repeat medicines delivered to your home and free access to GPS and nurses..

He said, “When we consume riboflavin in excess of the daily requirement, there is a dramatic increase in blood, tissue, and urine levels of free riboflavin.

“Although the amounts of vitamin B2 found in multivitamin supplements and in your diet don’t pose any risks of toxicity, even at extremely high dosses, vitamin B2 rarely causes side effects.”
