Minister: Fadjr Int’l Theater Festival shows dramatic art dynamism
The 37th Fadjr International Theater Festival is proceeding in the right path and indicates that Iran’s dramatic art is dynamic, said Iran’s culture minister.
Abbas Salehi made the statement at the festival’s closing ceremony, adding that the art of theater is able to initiate a lively communication with the audience.
He said that dramatic arts have been developing in recent years due to strenuous activities of theater experts, IRNA wrote.
The festival’s 37th edition witnessed a 43-percent growth compared to the earlier round in terms of the number of performances in the provinces, he said.
Plays from Belgium, Georgia and France were awarded at the ceremony while the festival’s Grand Prix Award went to ‘(Fore)named’ directed by Aliasghar Dashti from Iran.
‘(Fore)named’, written by Keivan Sarreshteh, also clinched several other awards including the Best Director award at the festival.
FITF awarded productions in eight other categories beside the international section, such as posters, ‘Iran-1’ and ‘Iran-2’ competition sections.
Farshad Fozouni received the Best Sound Design award for ‘Flight Instructions for the Crew and Pilot’, written and directed by Farhad Fozouni from Iran.
Best Playwriting award went to ‘When the Rooster Sings out of Tune’, written and directed by Ali Shams.
The event’s 37th edition was held in Tehran from February 11 to 23.
The annual Fadjr International Theater Festival has been held in Iran since 1983, featuring local and international theatrical works and performers.
