Iran: UAE’S anti-iran claims aimed at covering up its damage to Islamic world

-

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Qassemi, said the United Arab Emirates’ “false” allegations against Iran are aimed at covering up damage its policies have inflicted on the Islamic world.

Qassemi reacted to recent anti-iran comments made by the UAE’S top diplomat against Tehran at the opening of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

The UAE’S Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan urged Iran to stop spreading what he called chaos across the Middle East.

“We call on Iran to review its policies and non-interference in the affairs of states and stop the spread of chaos and sectarianism,” he said.

“Unfortunately, certain countries have gotten used to repeating such claims in order to cover up the damage that their policies have caused the Islamic world,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said, as reported by Tasnim News Agency.

Qassemi recommended bin Zayed to “take a look at the situation in Yemen and the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the military aggression of the UAE and a number of other states and realize the real meaning and definition of his country’s interference in the affairs of other Islamic countries and the harmful humanitarian and financial effects of aggression against Yemen.”

Qassemi added, “The philosophy of formation and development of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has been the creation of unity and convergence among the member states, and abusing the meetings of this organization and raising divisive and false issues against the other members is a wrong move contrary to this organization’s goals and philosophy, and would seriously damage interaction and trust among the members.”

Qassemi stressed that the OIC members which play host to the organization’s meetings and sessions must try to strengthen unity and solidarity within the Islamic community, not to take advantage of the conference to “put forward the objectives and policies dictated by the countries from outside the Islamic world.”

The Iranian official also pointed to repeated claims by the UAE on three Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf, saying, “The Islamic Republic of Iran’s sovereignty over the islands is an undoubted issue, and raising such claims would not change or affect the legal status of these islands and the fact that they belong to the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
