Midnight snacking is dangerous!

12:00 a.m. cravings feel so good! We all are well aware that midnight snacking is linked to weight gain, insomnia, and other health-related issues, indiatimes.com wrote.

Even then we can hardly resist the temptation of indulging in midnight snacking. From chips to chocolate, we eat anything available at that time to satiate our cravings, without thinking much about its repercussion. But there are some food items that you should avoid eating late at night at all cost, for the sake of your health.

Here is a list of eight food items that nutritionists advice you to stay away from:

French fries and potato chips

The deep fried potatoes might seem tempting to you, but they are not at all good for your sleep and health. Avoid french fries and potato chips at all cost during night time. The high-fat content in the food will make your body focus more on digestion than on sleep. This will also lead to heartburn or reflux.

Tea

It is surely soothing to have a nice hot cup of tea before bedtime but it should be avoided. Whether it is black, green or lemon tea, all contain caffeine, which can hamper your sweet sleep. Even a brew of herbal water can make you rush to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Ice cream

Who does not enjoy a cold and creamy delicacy at night? We all are guilty of savoring it. But ice creams are full of fat and having them late at night can trigger indigestion and acid reflux.

Pizza

Late-night pizza might seem like one of the best things to do, but be careful before ordering one for yourself. Pizzas are greasy and high in fat, which can disturb your digestive system and cause heartburn. It is important to feel relaxed before going to bed, for a good sleep.

Cereal

A bowl of cereal is one of the most convenient foods to have at night. But cereal contains excessive sugar, which can spike your blood glucose level and can be a reason for sleeplessness. Have a light diet before going to bed for a good slumber.

Carbonated beverages

Fizzy drinks do not contain any nutrients and are full of zero calories. The bubbles of the drink can lead to indigestion and can keep you tossing throughout the night.

Chocolate

You should not indulge in this sweet treat late at night unless you are planning to stay up. Chocolate also contains caffeine that can affect your peaceful slumber.
