Pensioner, 104, to be arrested for first time after revealing it as her ‘wish’

-

A104-year-old woman said she wants to be arrested because she has never been on the wrong side of the law. Police have agreed to ‘arrest’ Anne Brokenbrow next Wednesday, when she will be taken into the custody for the first time ever, according to Daily Mirror.

Brokenbrow, who worked as a secretary before she retired, stunned staff at her care home in Stoke Bishop, Bristol, England, when she revealed her life-long wish. They had asked residents to fill in a form with their wishes as part of a charity initiative for the elderly.

Brokenbrow’s read, “My wish is to be arrested. I am 104 and I have never been on the wrong side of the law.”

Local policing teams in Stoke Bishop said they were very happy to grant Brokenbrow’s request.

The centenarian is very popular at her home and is regularly visited by her granddaughter Sasha, who she raised after her daughter, Sasha’s mother, died.

Her care home Stokeleigh is one of five in Bristol taking part in the Wishing Washing Line initiative, run by elderly people’s charity Alive Activities.

Paper slips with wishes on are attached to a ‘washing line’ at nearby Coop stores, in the hope a shopper will see it and offer to help make it come true.

The wish, Brokenbrow, who suffers from dementia, submitted was among the first to be pegged to the line at the Coop in Bishopston, in Bristol.

Kelly Lewis, 40, activities coordinator at Stokeleigh Care Home said, “She’s really fun, she’s got a really good sense of humour.

“We were surprised when she said it but thinking about it it’s actually quite in character for Anne.”

She said Brokenbrow was looking forward to her visit from police next Wednesday, adding, “Although she can be stubborn at times she’s always very friendly and chatty with the carers.”

Other resident’s wishes include riding in a Rolls Royce, visiting a motorcycle club, a hand massage and a chat, and a cuddle with a poodle.

The Wishing Washing Line project launched in Bristol on March 1 having helped thousands of elderly people in Essex.
