Iran’s top commander: Foreign troops will sooner or later leave Syria
Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said that foreign troops who are present in Syria without the country’s coordination will sooner or later leave the Arab country.
Upon his arrival in the Syrian capital Damascus, Baqeri emphasized on the necessity for the pullout of the foreign troops stationed in the Arab country without Damascus’ coordination, according to sepahnews.com.
Baqeri at the head of a high-ranking delegation arrived in Damascus on Sunday to attend trilateral talks with his Syrian and Iraqi counterparts.
Promoting defense and military cooperation, consulting about the fight against terrorism, and establishing coordination and cooperation among Iran, Iraq and Syria, as well as examining the latest strategies to stabilize and secure the region are among other objectives behind the Iranian top general’s visit.
In recent years, the Middle East region has been plagued with Takfiri terrorist groups like Daesh, which are believed to have been created and supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.
Iraq and Syria have been gripped by insurgency with various terrorist groups, including Daesh, fighting their central governments.
In the meantime, Iran has remained a close ally of the countries and supports their legitimate governments in the face of foreignbacked militancy.
