Iran seeking to host U21, U19 volleyball world meets
Iran will launch a bid for hosting the FIVB Men’s U21 and U19 Volleyball World Championships in 2021, said Mohammad-reza Davarzani, the president of Iran Volleyball Federation.
Davarzani made the offer in an online meeting with FIVB Director-general Fabio Azevedo on Wednesday.
Iran hosted the under-19 competition in 1997 before holding the under-21 event in 2003.
Should the country secure the hosting of the U21 championship, it will have the chance to defend its world title – in Bahrain in 2019 – on home soil.
