Iran reports nearly 3,000 new coronavirus cases
Iran’s Health Ministry reported nearly 3,000 new coronavirus cases in the country, the highest number in nearly one month.
The ministry’s spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said that the number of the new positive cases rose by 2,981 to 410,334 from Tuesday to Wednesday, according to IRNA.
He noted that 1,726 of the new infected people have been hospitalized.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,827 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
Recent holidays in the country, during which many people traveled to other cities, led to the increase of new cases in the country.

Raeisi said on Tuesday that the number of people tested positive for the novel coronavirus has doubled in the capital Tehran just in one week.
Whenever compliance with health protocols decreases, the number of new cases begins to increase, he said.
The ministry’s spokeswoman also put the death toll from the virus at 23,632 following the death of 179 patients from Tuesday to Wednesday.
At least 352,019 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.
She said that more than 3,641,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
Iran has been trying to contain the spread of virus by enforcing social distancing measures and making face mask mandatory in public places since the outbreak of the virus in the country in February.
