Woman changed car glass ‘to help husband’
THIS is the old Donagahadee Police Station, which is now completely unrecognisable after a radical transformation into an elegant and luxurious family home.
Once home to local police officers, it is now the home of a businessman and his family who snapped it up even before it was launched onto the open market.
Believed to have fetched more than its £325,000 asking price, the historic property has taken 12 months to transform into a modern home with four bedrooms, two reception rooms and three bathrooms.
Sold at auction in 2015, it was bought by a local company who completely gutted the original building, which consisted of a holding cell, canteen, interview rooms and inquiry desk.
The gated property sits on the Millisle Road, Donaghadee. The keys were handed over to its new A LARNE woman who has pleaded guilty to using a vehicle fitted with glass which did not allow in sufficient light said she had adapted the car because her husband had an eye injury.
Adele Shaw (45), of Seacourt Road in the town, admitted the offence where the visual transmission owners yesterday. The luxurious 2,755 sq ft of accommodation is set over two floors and includes four bedrooms, a study or fifth bedroom, two reception rooms, a large open plan kitchen/dining room, utility room, downstairs WC and family bathroom.
Two of the main bedrooms have access to both a dressing room and en suite shower room.
Outside there are lawned gardens to the front and back and a for light was less than the percentage required in regulations.
It was detected on October 20 last year at Seacliff Road. She also admitted a second charge of driving a vehicle with an incorrect form of registration mark.
A prosecutor said only 20% of light was coming through the glass when the minimum should be 70%. large driveway with parking.

Defence barrister Aaron Thompson told Ballymena Magistrates Court the windows were tinted because Shaw’s husband had a “penetrating eye injury”.
Mr Thompson accepted it was not lawful and should not be done. Regarding the number plate, the barrister said it was a case of his client having a “dalliance for that sort of thing”.
Shaw was fined a total of £125.
