£530,000 funding boost for Belfast medical tech firm
A LEADING innovator in webbased technology for 3D printing in healthcare has announced it has closed an investment round, bringing its seed funding to £530,000.
The Belfast-based firm, called axial3D, plans to heavily invest in further development of a workflow solution that facilitates efficient access to 3D printed, patient-specific, anatomical models for surgical planning.
Axial3D combines an in-house team of software engineers, biomedical scientists and 3D printing technicians with the most advanced 3D printer technology on the market.
This allows the firm to create incredibly detailed physical models to precisely reproduce patients’ scan data in 3D, which can then be used to help them better prepare for operations, thereby improving patient outcomes.
Axial3D has attracted entrepreneur and early adopter of 3D printing Patrick Hurst MBE to invest and join the board of directors as axial3D chairperson.
Speaking about the company, Mr Hurst said: “There were three things that compelled me to become involved with axial3D — the calibre of the team, the pedigree of its 3D printing technology and services, and also its exceptional commitment to client delivery.”
