Boojum’s building in south Belfast on the market for £450,000
THE home of Belfast burrito business Boojum in the south of the city has gone on the market for £450,000.
The building is in the student Botanic Avenue area.
The transaction is being handled by commercial property firm Osborne King.
Boojum will remain on as a long-term tenant at the three-storey mid-terrace.
It has been there for two years after launching its first restaurant close by in 2007.
It is being sold by Grant Thornton, which is acting as fixed charge receiver on the building.

“Not only is it located within an area popular with students and young professionals, it also benefits from having a well-established business in situ offering an attractive rental income and yield.
“Demand for good quality investment stock continues to grow and we are expecting strong interest in this particular property.”
The building covers 6,500sq feet across three floors, with Boojum on the ground floor. Staff areas and office space make up the rest. Offers are being sought in excess of £450,000.
In promotional material, Osborne King says: “The property is... adjacent to Madison’s Hotel close to Queen’s University and Shaftesbury Square.
“The surrounding area comprises a varied mix of commercial occupiers including Caffe Nero, Russells, The Empire and Botanic train station is in close proximity.”
The Mexican fast-food chain has branched out considerably over the last two years after it was bought by brothers David and Andrew Maxwell.
It opened its latest restaurant at Victoria Square, and has plans for another on the Lisburn Road, close to Marks & Spencer. It’s understood as many as 100 jobs could be created with the latest expansion.
It will bring Boojum’s shop numbers to 10 across Ireland — five in Belfast, three in Dublin, and one in Galway and Cork.
Boojum uses Deliveroo to serve up its burritos to the home delivery market, and has added a food truck to its range of eating outlets.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph last year about the business’s expansion, the Maxwell brothers said: “We have seen really strong growth in Dublin and Belfast.”
