Two brothers and their wives disqualified as directors

TWO brothers and their wives have been given boardroom bans after their car repair firm went bust owing around £300,000.

Brothers Trevor (59) and Kenneth Bibby (62) were disqualified as directors for six years each over their conduct as bosses of TKM Ltd in Balloo South Business Park, which went under in 2014. And their respective wives Phyllis (60) and Helen (50) were banned from the boardroom for four years each.

Trevor and Phyllis Bibby lived at Old Movilla Road in Newtownards and the other couple at Maxwell Road in Bangor.

Trevor Bibby’s misdemeanours included wrongly paying himself £53,400 to the detriment of creditors, while Kenneth erred by enabling the payment.

Their wives’ wrongdoing included allowing the firm to retain £212,700 in taxes owed to the Crown and failing to file an annual return.

And in Co Tyrone John MacMahon (67) and his wife Anne MacMahon (68), of Coolsreagh Road in Cookstown, were barred for five years and three years respectively over their conduct at the head of JJ MacMahon.

The building contractor went into administrative receivership in 2012 owing £3.7m.

Misconduct included entering into transactions below market value and/or for no consideration.

They also acknowledged that they had retained £218,790 that had been due to the Crown in taxes, and that they had failed in their duty to file accurate annual accounts.

Meanwhile, the boss of Londonderry call centre company Censys has been barred for six years after it went into administration in 2011 owing £500,000.

Kenneth McInnes (56) of Tayinloan in Argyll, Scotland, acknowledged misconduct including allowing the company to retain nearly £600,000 due to the Crown, drawing more pay than the company could afford, and failing to file annual tax returns.
