Busy stretch of Crumlin Road to close for works

A £120,000 carriagewa­y resurfacin­g scheme on a busy Belfast road will start next week.

Officials say the work, along the Crumlin Road to the Ligo- show was nearly ready to begin.

“And now he’s been doing matinees and night performanc­es and really loves it.”

Archie’s ability to interact with both the actors on stage and the audience is all the more remarkable because he isn’t trained.

It is expected to be completed by Monday, August 28.

“He’s supposed to run across the stage when the ‘dog catcher’ takes him, but if he doesn’t feel like running they carry him,” added Julie.

From next Monday, August 21, to Friday, August 25, a one–way closure of the country-bound lane will be in place from 9am to 6pm. On Sunday, August 27, a full road closure in both directions will be in place from 7am to 6pm.

On August 28, a full road closure

“There are different people playing the roles each time but it doesn’t bother him — he still acts the same.

“Then at the interval he meets and greets all the kids in the theatre.

“Stardom definitely isn’t going to his head. It doesn’t cause him any stress. As I am speaking to you now, he is crying to get out the door and get going.”

You can catch Archie at The Mac up until this Sunday. in both directions will be in place from 7am to 6pm.

The Department for Infrastruc­ture said the dates and duration of the road closures will be dependent on the progress of the scheme and on favourable weather conditions.
